I’d have a 1976 Jaguar XJ6 or a 1976 Mercedes SL. The 70s were terrible years for American cars. Ah yes the seventies, the era synonymous with the British automobile and quality. I say that as an Englishman and family that have the "pleasure" of owning Triumphs, Austins and Land Rovers. The only Brit built car I had zero issues was my 12 Mini Clubman.. I had an 89 XJ12 and an 01 XJR. Oddly enough, the 89 was more reliable than the 01! The 89 didn’t like traffic (limp mode due to overheating) and it didn’t like rain. It did weird things when it rained, but other than that it was really trouble free. It never actually broke down as long as I avoided traffic jams and rain lol.

The 96 had almost 300,000 km on it when I bought it off one of our fire truck salesmen whose territory was B.C and Alberta. I figured it had been through the break in period and all the bugs had been worked out. The guy I bought it off had a good saying about its reliability. “It may drop all the windows in the car wash but it’s never left me stranded.”

muckymark the world famous Lucas Electric company 😊 I bought my 89 in 97, when I was 21 years old. Not the wisest choice. I paid ten grand for it and I bought it from an elderly gentleman, one owner car. It actually only had about 20k miles. I totalled it on September 19, 2001, in a freak rain accident. I hydroplaned and went off road trying to avoid a dog that for some odd reason tried to cross a freeway. Went into a ditch and hit a pole. Game over. The XJR was constantly in the shop, got that in 03, two years old and around 35k miles on it. Traded it in 2006, when it broke down on my way home from picking it up after a 1500 hundred dollar repair. I was so pissed I stopped, unplugged the battery to clear all the lights, and traded it on my way home lol. Man I miss that car. Ran across one earlier on bringatrailer and I actually contemplating selling a couple of Seikos to buy it lol. Okay. More than two Seikos. bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-jaguar-xjr/

jocke that is a sweet ride but I have to ask, where/how do you get parts for it? Do you do your own repairs or have you found a specialist? We have dealers here that import parts from US so regular parts it's no problems. Here in Sweden US cars and motorcycles always been popular and we have a lots of customs shops too.
