Hello Everyone,
**i know that this article is a little longer but Im searching for some good advice so I would really appreciate it, if you would read all of it and reply with some advice of yours. Any is welcome, thank you! **
So I want to buy a watch, or to be more precise, I want to buy a Rolex Submariner in Oystersteel with Yellow Gold and a Black Dial so the 16613 if i'm not mistaken.
Now this is quite a big deal for me. I dont have that much money left over and buying it new for around 12 thousand euros is quite a large amount for me.
My initial thought when I searched for a watch was that it should be something anywhere below 10 thousand. However I have really fallen in love with this watch and I am certain that it will be this one and no other.
But im getting off topic. I am currently facing a hard decision. I have seen that the 16613 is available (from trusted resellers) for about 7 thousand as a Vintage Model that is 20+ years old. One that I found for instance that looks quite decent is 23 years old.
So here's the question: Should I get the Vintage one that is 20+ years old for 7 thousand or the New one from 2018 for 12 thousand?
Now let me take a moment to explain my thoughts so far on this situation. I personally (i know that this opinion strongly differs from person to person) neither prefer the Vintage Version nor the new version. I think that both are very pretty in their own unique way. Neither do I have a strong affection towards the Vintage one, because it is classified as "Vintage". I am not a vintage collector of any Type so this doesn't really matter to me. The only two arguments that I care about and that I am taking into consideration personally are the price and the quality (or life expectancy of the watch).
