I cannot do NATO straps. At first I was happy it comes with a rubber strap as well, then I found out it's a one piece that is basically a rubber NATO that still runs under the watch.
No from me.

A neat watch for strap fans, for sure. It'll be much stronger than having springbars or another more easily detached mechanism to secure the strap.

CHIP fair point. It's a shame as options will be more limited but for folks who love NATO straps they're set. I'm all about bracelets so I'll be in the same boat here.

Those that love it, love it. Those that hate it, hate it. There’s not a lot of middle ground here. I’ve asked my AD and he said he got almost 100 requests for one within a couple of hours, so it’s clearly going to do well.

Open end straps for fixed lugs. What about them if you don't want Nato or one pc.?

Open end straps for fixed lugs. What about them if you don't want Nato or one pc.? No thanks. They are basically glued over the fixed lugs so you are stuck with one strap until it wears out and honestly, I’m not sure if I’d trust the glue to hold for a long time.

Love the watch. Except, as everyone has stated, the strap/NATO issue. I have tried NATO straps a few times. Although they look good on many watches, they just do not suit me.

Baco Noir Wow! I guess it would seem like sacrilege to me. Spoiling the essence (for want of a better term) of the watch. To each his/her own, though. Out of respect, I would move on until I found another piece. Not like there is no choice!

If I saw one on the secondary market at a discount because of that, I might consider it, but the countdown bezel is still not my preference.

Maybe a longer strap for fixed lugs ? You thread it through the lugs and buckle it. The strap would be around the wrist, not under the case. It would thusly form a double layer strap. Time to get creative instead of sawing off lugs.

While the Pelagos FXD appears to be a little larger than a standard Pelagos, it feels and looks considerably thinner, which is a significant bonus in my eyes, and the total weight on the rubber is only 89g (yes, I took a kitchen scale to Rolex HQ).
