Congrats! A distinctive piece. Can be made good as new while retaining character. I can't tell from the photos but if the brushed finish has been polished off the case top you'd think it wouldn't take a lot to have that re-brushed as original pattern.

priamo Thanks! Hard to tell form the pictures, indeed. I sort of think the brushed finish is still there, but like you say, it wouldn't be hard to set right. This would be the perfect watch to have sent to a watchmaker with a YouTube channel when it needs servicing. So happy I was finally able to settle on one. Some of them were in terrible shape. Over polished to the point where the stamping on the back is gone, hands and dials very much corroded, and so much more. The true test of how well I did comes once it arrives here. Either way, for this price range and what I got I'm already happy.

A very promising sought after Omega. Looks very clean with the movement removed from the case. Top loaders don't usually have photos like that because sellers don't know how to correctly disassemble them. Let us know your evaluation once it's in your hands! At your price, over time, you can work with it.

That’s a nice looking Omega rw16610! Congrats. Have you ever used Al at Archer Watches in Canada for Service? He’s great and has an Omega part account. He worked on my great grandfather’s Elgin pocketwatch from the 1800’s and even bout some donor movements to replace broken jewels, but didn’t just charged me for the jewels!

That’s a nice looking Omega rw16610 ! Congrats. Have you ever used Al at Archer Watches in Canada for Service? He’s great and has an Omega part account. He worked on my great grandfather’s Elgin pocketwatch from the 1800’s and even bout some donor movements to replace broken jewels, but didn’t just charged me for the jewels! Thanks, Baco Noir ! I haven't yet, as he significantly reduced his service intake a few years back due to health reasons. He's not far from me, at all. It would be very easy to send him a watch (or a few) to have serviced. My fingers are crossed that once the need arises he can look after this or some of the others for me. I've been emailing back and forth with the seller, he's going to be shipping the watch out today / in a few hours I'm guessing Japan time. Later tonight or by the time I wake up it should be shipped. Either way it'll be released to the carrier for the weekend so it can make it here soon. Congratulations!! I need to add a vintage at some point. CHIP ,Thanks! You most definitely need a vintage, from any brand. There's something very special about then. Like a trip back in time, makes you feel like a curator. Your friend in Portugal would be the ideal person to get one from. He didn't have one close enough to this listed, otherwise I would have purchased from him.

rw16610 I technically do have a vintage, my 1970 date just sigma dial. I never wear it, I just can’t get used to 36mm.

CHIP Ah, that's right! I almost forgot about that one. It is tough to revert back to something less than 40mm after a certain point. At least you've got the vintage box checked! Albeit possible to find a larger (for the era) vintage piece, it'll be an uphill battle. Sports models will better meet your needs based on these circumstances. The 60s Fortis TrueLine I have is tiny, but the 70s Caravelle Set-O-Matics are more reasonably sized. The modern watches you've got are all perfectly sized with regards to diameter.

It’s just one of those watches I’ll never be able to replace if I sell, and I doubt it will ever be worth less than what it’s worth today. I’ve never seen another one like it. Ever.

Can't wait! CHIP - If for some reason you did end up selling to aquajoe at least you'll know it got a great home with a deserving individual. Selling anything these days is a tough call though, that's for sure!

CHIP - our watches landed on the day!! This only adds to the story of each in my opinion. carl This one is in honour of the vintage Seamaster that got away. It's absolutely stunning in person, totally blown away with the elegance of this watch. The Day Date is more subtle in person and I'm actually glad I got one with complications. The engravings on the back are in tact too, I'll have to try get an image and I'll try take a collection group shot in a bit. @priam Thank you SO much for your tips, info, advice, and expertise. Believe it or not, the watch I messaged you about in April 2021 when I was on the hunt for a top loader was this exact watch from the same seller! He wasn't shipping internationally at the time, but after 11 ish months of being listed he caved and shipped it UPS and it arrived within 3 days from Japan. It's in excellent shape, I cleaned it a bit but want to remove the bracelet to throw that in the ultrasonic cleaner for 10-15 mins or so.
