Agreed! None of us have time for the shenanigans. I just want the damn watch.
Since it's only available at the Toronto Eaton Centre, there's no way I'm heading downtown for that inevitable crap show.
Glad to hear they'll be online most likely, as sales volume clearly benefit Swatch and Omega (more the former) a lot.
Fingers crossed, if not I can happily spend the money I would've for one from another watch brand.

Following the buzz online and on other forums. Seems as if we're in for a crap show on release day.
I'm seeing rumours of 100,000 initial units and the eventual availability online as already pointed out in this thread by Mark.
Here's a YouTube video of the Hong Kong release:
If Swatch doesn't swiftly make these available online to mitigate the crap we're seeing on eBay and elsewhere I'm going to have to pass on principal alone.
I really want one but I'm not sure how badly I do.

Pass.
This is a great marketing idea and I’m sure they’ll sell a crap ton of them. I really like the speedmaster and I’ve been a swatch fan since they released them. My swatches are some of my most valuable in my collection.
This particular just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t like the dial/sub dial layout and I don’t think it will retain much value after five years. I’m willing to be proven wrong here but no swatch really retains value or appreciates unless it’s a vintage piece.

Normally I’m in the camp “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all” but I’m such a huge swatch fan that I needed to speak my mind here.

aquajoe Nothing to worry about! I'm on the fence of wanting one / hating it. The more I see or hear about the I initial hype, the less I want any part of it. Someone from a different forum was going to the launch and asked if anyone was interested. Silly me, they wanted $700 USD. It's a shame more can't vote with their wallets, but hey, whatever makes them happy. If I can't easily get one at MSRP ordered online then I can happily do without this piece.

I think it's a brilliant move. Will not hurt Omega one bit, and will give Swatch a huge boost. And the timing is genius, right before W+W... There are so many threads on this on every forum, it's insane. I've really not seen anything like this in all the years I've been involved in watches. What I see is mostly positive views on this, with some rather extreme negative reactions by a few. A few people have said they are selling their Omegas due to the brand being "devalued" but so far my offers to buy their watches at those devalued prices have not been accepted. One poster on WUS equated using the Speedmaster name on a Swatch to "stolen valor" which is probably the most illogical and unhinged reaction I've seen. The thing I never realized is just how many people who are buying "serious" watches, started out with a Swatch when they were younger. I really do think this will eventually lead more people to want the real thing once they have the means. There will always be people trying to make a profit, and this is no exception. I do hope the people who are trying to flip these all get burned when they go to on-line sales. When they do go on-line, I'll probably be trying to get one...won't replace this, but it is a fun thing....given how the world is right now, a bit of fun is a good thing...

@archer Nice to see you! Here's to hoping for on-line sales soon. I actually feel bad for the people who lined up and were left empty handed. Albeit inevitable given the numbers, I hope they're able to obtain one soon. When I search eBay for "MoonSwatch" I'm seeing some listings, crazy ones, but not as many as expected. I guess that could change after the US / Canada release which is happening as I type this in Toronto at the Eaton Centre. Saw some wrist shots of a couple models from the European release:

Identifying the specific Omega Speedmaster model offered for the 250 would be difficult. However, if the price seems unusually low compared to the typical market value of this model, Omega may be making a mistake.
