Wow, this is the best explanation of how mechanical watches work I’ve ever seen. It uses colored text to ID the descriptions of various watch parts, along with graphics you can rotate in 3D and start/stop to see how they integrate and work together. ciechanow.ski/mechanical-watch/

A mechanical watch is such a fascinating piece of well engineered machinery. Playing around with those interactive diagrams was a lot of fun and a reminder of why I'm obsessed with these things. Thanks for sharing!

 After all these years, and even disassembling and assembling simple watch movements there is still a lot I don't understand. This clears up a lot of things for me!
