I just pulled the trigger on a new Hamilton Khaki hand wind, and it should be here Wednesday. I chose the 33mm "mid size" version rather than the 38mm. Anyone want to guess why? ;D

Very nice, I've always been a fan of those Hamilton's. Been toying with the idea of getting one for a long time Jeff

Umm because you have a small wrist?? Nope. One of the things I like about these watches is that they are a near perfect homage to the original Hamilton military watches going all the way back to WWII. And those watches were 33mm. For the sake of authenticity, I chose the 33mm over the 38mm. (BTW, the watch pictured is the 38mm version.)

goes to show you dont have to spend $$$$ to get a good watch with history! mamas I agree. I wish other watch companies (especially Rolex and Omega) would make modern homage watches to some of their past models that are dead ringers for those old watches, but with all the modern goodies inside. BTW, the Hamilton arrived safe and sound, but I've got to send it back. The hand wind models have a sapphire crystal and the crystal on this watch has a very small chip on the edge right at the 12 and 1 markers. You could really only see it if the light hit it just right, or if you used a loupe, but I'd still rather have a new watch without defects.

Garry agree with your sentiments, although omega have been doing this.. the railmaster is the same as the railmaster vintage, the planet ocean and the black bond are based on the seamaster 300, and the speedy pro.. wel that has remianed fairly unchanged for 40 yrs lolol omega have been rereleasing some of their classics as the museam edition.. classics from the 30's and 40's but unfortunately thes are too limited and cost $$$ so i will have to dream about these

I am unfamiliar with the Railmaster. Regarding the Planet Ocean, it's more like Omega used styling cues from the Seamaster 300. The Seamaster 300 was no where near as big as either size that the Planet Ocean comes in. If you put a Planet Ocean beside an original Seamster 300, virtually no one would mistake the two for being the same watch. If you put my 33mm Hamilton Khaki beside any of the original Hamilton military watches, it's very easy to mistake them as the same watch. That's the sort of "homage" I'd like to see Rolex and Omega do. Not modern "versions" of some of their old classics, but virtual replicas of their old classics. Edit: I just remembered that Rolex did release the new Prince models as part of the Cellini line this year and these are very good homages to the original Prince.

Gary, Here's a Railmaster . . . They brought this out a couple of years ago in homage to the earlier model. It's basically an Aqua Terra. Still, it's a great watch.

You know I like this watch, too, and have considered "pulling the trigger" on one myself. It's simple, basic and has neat historical roots. Mind if I ask where you got it and a ballpark price? $205 is the best price I've been able to find. Thanks. -Ben

Ordered the watch on Friday, had it on Monday. They were quick to give me a RMA number too when I asked to return it. Now let's see how fast I get the replacement watch.
