I decided that I needed a dressy watch on a strap and take a break from the divers. I saw Gary's post with the Sea-Gull "1963" and fell for the watch especially the display back. I agree with Gary that this is an excellent watch for under $150 shipped. I was lucky enough to find a seller that had extra's from a shipment he placed in November, so I snatched it up. ;D Jeff

Nice!!!! I bet that could pass for a lot more expensive watch! (save for the writing on the dial... which is either cool... or not. Depending on how you look at it)

Thanks Chip! I could've done without the writing on the front, but it does give it a unique, different look than I'm used to. I'm really enjoying looking at the back.

Thanks Adam. I was really pushing for the Speedy with the display back, but I think this will hold me over until it's "Speedy Time".

Thanks Adam. I was really pushing for the Speedy with the display back, but I think this will hold me over until it's "Speedy Time". I think it will hold you over Its a very nice looking watch and the speedy will be all that much better when you get it. Actually that movement looks A LOT like the speedy movement, I bet its the same one they put in the high end copies that are on Jm's website.

i think you got quite agood bargain ther jeff.. congrats! how accurate is it? Thanks and good question. I think it's running a bit fast, but due to your post I just set it to GMT so I'll have an answer tomorrow. One thing I am impressed with is the power reserve. I fully wound it Monday afternoon and it's still ticking today. I've been playing with the chrono and that thing resets very quick, almost faster than the eye can pick it up. Me and my wife both reset it numerous times to see what direction it was rotating to reset. Does the Speedy have a fast reset speed on the chrono?

Actually that movement looks A LOT like the speedy movement, I bet its the same one they put in the high end copies that are on Jm's website. The Sea-Gull movement is actually a Chinese made Venus 175. The Swiss made 175 has long been considered one of the best (if not the best) column wheel chronograph movements ever made. (The Lemania movt used in the Omega is not a column wheel design.) China bought all of Venus's equipment when they went out of business and the Chinese began manufacturing their own 175 movements for their "home grown" chronographs. A few years ago Maurice Lacroix made a limited edition Masterpiece chronograph from NOS Swiss Venus 175 movements that they re-worked into the ML 36 calibre. The price of these watches was around $15,000.
