Scary indeed! Here in Hong Kong, they are selling those fakes on the street for 300$HK! and much less in Shenzhen in China which is 1 hour away from here. AD is the only way we have!

I saw a Rolex Yachtie fake this afternoon, the guy was showing it off and bragging about it... I didn't have access to it for very long, but it looked absolutely marvelous, everything looked "right" though I'm not an expert on them, serial # even looked good, He said he paid about $900.00 for it, quite a bit for a fake, but supposedly it was "swiss made" even...

I seriously doubt those best fakes are made in Switzerland. I'm sure the people who _sell_ them want the unsuspecting customers to believe that b/s. They might use some Swiss parts but Switzerland (obviously) has extremely strict rules & penalties for importing counterfeit products. Having a fake watch factory in Switzerland sounds completely unbelieveable to me. I've seen a frankenwatch Tudor with Rolex dial which was virtually indistinguishable. But these are probably just creations of some individual watchsmiths. I believe the fake factories in China, Singapore and Thailand use same cases and movements as Invicta, Sandoz, Alpha and other Rolex "homage" brands. I have no facts but I suspect brands like this might be connected to the fake watch factories. I mean, how much do we know about Invicta, for example?

We seem to know that a lot of them require working on or replacement before you get to enjoy them... Sorry, not Invicta bashing, just relating to all the threads I've seen to that effect...

You do realize that Chinese manufacturing techniques are among the most sophisticated in the world. I worked for a telephone manufacturing facility for thirty years and was given an early retirement because it was cheaper to shut down our factory and contract our products to the Chinese. They're capable of making very sophisticated micro electronic products, believe me they can make good mechanical watches with no problem, they have mastered all the latest technologies, old ones like watch manufacturing aren't really much of a challenge to them. I'm not suggesting anyone buy fakes, but don't be surprised about the level of quality that can be achieved by Chinese counterfeiters.

I'm not saying that. I just say that these Chinese watches can be good - or they can be complete junk.
My Invicta 9926 (I recall - the one that imitates my TT Black Sub) is a good example of a "monday version": Misaligned crystal, pins/screws dropping from the bracelet... and lastly the winding crown fell off when I unscrewed it open... That was basically enough for me... all this during the first 3 months... and I'm not even hard on my watches...
But I believe that those Invictas with ETA movements are much better finished overall. I liked my 9938... my ETA-powered Sandoz was even better quality watch. Heavy and solid diver watch for a ridiculous $250 price tag.
I'm just saying that it's a luck of a draw. Even Rolex and Omega have rare quality control issues and they cost up to 25 times more. I guess you get what you pay for... even with Chinese watches...

I am not defending the Chinese, they put me out business! They are capable of making very sophisticated goods. I agree that their quality control could be better but at the prices they were charging us (Lucent Technologies) we could afford to reject up to 20% as junk and still make a nice profit. Sad, I know. I'm not sure you can interpolate this in any meaningful way as to watches, but like I said before don't be surprised at the high level of their fakery, so be wise and beware.
