Hey Guys, first off - I'm not a photographer and will never claim to be so. Just for the record I use a Canon G2 for my pics but I realise myself that most of them are not very good at all. My question came to me after reading Erik's post about his Nikon F camera, anyway the thing is my father gave me his camera outfit a good few years ago and it has sat in the airing cupboard of my house for as long as I can recall. My knowledge of camera's is very limited and all I know is that it is a Nikon F2AS and has 7 lenses along with lots of other stuff that I don't even know what it is! Just wondering is there anywhere on the web that I can learn more about the camera with a view to maybe tinkering about with as I read/learn more? Thanks guys - Neil.

While I do not know much about the camera that you are mentioning, I can tell you that the G2 is a great camera to work with. All my photos are taken with a 4 years old G2. My first pics were horrible... but after 2000 pictures they just got better and better.

Wow Jon. Yet another similarity/coincidence. I read Ken Rockwell's site regularly

GMT, What you have is a later version of the F2 or photonic AS made after 1977 with the automatic indexing feature. if the lenses are all AI capable you have the most advanced photographic system available at that time. It's a classic valuable today both as a great camera system but also as a collector's item. It may need to be serviced after all these years. Old cameras are a lot like mechanical watches they need lubrication and the light seals tend to dry and rot. It's a fabulous machine worthy of great care and if you should decide to use it, it's capable of shooting fabulous pictures.
