Love the topic of your thread! While I prefer a hacking movement, it's not that big a deal either. My Seiko divers don't hack, but they're easy to sync with the atomic clock. Just apply a little backwards pressure to the crown & the second hand stops (or even moves backwards).

Non-quickset date...now that drives me nuts! My vintage Omega is non-quickset. What really sucks is when it has stopped and the date is +1 day from where it needs to be set. All the more reason for a winder.

The funny thing is in all my years of watch collecting, flipping and what have you, I've NEVER come across a non-hacking watch in my collection. Yes, of course, I've seen and handled a few....but never owned one personally.

My speedy pro is non hacking but its not a big deal to me.. as sam says.. it is easy to hack these by applying a little backwards pressure

I can deal with a non hacking movement. It does not bother me that much. No quick set date though... NO! I really like that Vostok K3 and a while back a purchased one for a friend of mine and when I got it the date was two days ahead of the correct one. I swear.. my fingers were bleeding after rotating the freaking crown 29 days worth... that sucked! No quickset date... no sale.

We Vostok owners develop callouses after awhile and then it's not a problem.

When I wore my GMT Master on a regular basis I never thought much about it. Now that I wear it infrequently I just wait till the calender is close to the date,or I don't even fool with the calender.

You should be able to run it forward from 9pm to midnight and then backwards to 9pm. Keep repeating that and it'll save a lot of bleeding fingers when compared to going around all 24 hours.
