Well....the two straps I purchased from Jurgen for my IWC Mark XVI have given up. Both of them were very dry leathers and cracked where they were stitched. I sent them back to Jurgen to repair/replace them under warranty & after 8 weeks he just sent them back with some shotty looking extra stitching. Our last communication he said "sh*t happens". Definitely not the best customer service. I've given up on him and he will have none of my future business. Anyway, I have a pilot strap on order from Aaron Tan like the one below.....now begins the looooooooooooooooooong wait. Should look great on the IWC.

Sorry to hear this Sam.. I'm sorry as well, but all is well that ends well. The Aaron Tan strap will be a much better strap.

Hey i can now make pilot straps with rivets. Granted, they are non-functional and decorative only, but it does the job.

Hey Sam, as I said in my PM to you. Check with aaron on whether he'll use functional or decorative rivets on the strap you ordered. My aaron pilot on the archer was awesome, however it only had decorative rivets. I didnt think to ask him when I ordered it.

Most of the rivets are just decorative these days....doesn't really matter to me either way.

I use Jurgen's straps all the time and they hold up great. Too bad you got some dry leather. The style I use don't have the extra stitching yours does but I have yet to have one complaint about them. Odd that he was not more helpful... My 2 were both made from 60+ year old leather....thus the dried out problem. His straps were OK, but compared to Micah, Simona, Rob Montana, Aaron Tan, etc his quality is just not there....the leather or the stitching/construction. Of course his price is about half, so I guess I shouldn't set my standards as high. His communication started out good & he was helpful in saying he was going to repair/replace the straps....just send them to him. I did and he sat on them for about 6 weeks. Then he ended up just screwing them up more and sending them back. He should have replaced them. I was not rude or demanding to him, but when he ended his last email to me with "sh*t happens" I lost any respect for him. Compare that to Micah when I had a problem. He said something to the effect of "that sucks.....I'll make you another one". Done! Now wasn't that easy.

I emailed him asking about selling me rivets or to point me in a direction to find a rivet supplier and he never returned my two emails. That said, the Jurgens I have on my Archer Aero fits great and is wearing perfectly well.

Sorry to hear about that, Sam. I bought a strap from Jürgens and it was awful workmanship. The holes weren't even centered on the strap and wouldn't line up with the buckle. Totally unacceptable. I sent it back to him and all he did was drill out the holes and they went from circular to oval. I'll never give him another dime.

The notch punched at the end of the strap for the tang was about 2mm off center from the buckle on one of my straps. It managed to fit into the holes on the other end of the strap (at an angle), but it's still crap quality. You could even eyeball it better than that. My 2 Jurgen straps have been pitched in the trash...best place for them. Before I take the trash out, do you want the 4 rivets John?

It sounds like his custom straps are really poor compared to the regular production straps. Honestly they have been great and I have zero complaints.
I have not dealt with him directly but the two distributors I know that sell his stuff in the US have both been good to work with. The only problem I've had is actually getting the straps I need (since I buy quite a few). My last order from the US Jurgen's site was lost in the mail and they refunded my money promptly and without me even asking. I ended up going to another distributor to get the straps.
Really suprised to hear of all these quality and service issues. Not defending them, just saying I've never had a problem.
I guess I've been lucky.
