Better start a new Thread as it is a treat showing it on this Forum. As mentioned before, it was a delight handling such a wonderful watch and be able to take pictures was a treat. This is one of the first 5512's which was released in 1959 as the first "modern" Submariner with Crownguards. Absolute stunning 2 liner Gilt dial with silver depth rating and the normally glossy black dial turned into a awesome brown 'tropic' dial. What makes it so special are a few features, nice RED faded TRIANGLE Bezel, Square Crown guards [ which been called even EXPERIMENTAL in some Literature ] and a super early Case number 47xxxx. The 1530 movement with Butterfly Rotor is in superb condition. The original 7206 riveted bracelet has some wear. Enjoy the pics everyone.

very nice, I'm getting tempted every time I see your vintage submariner pictures. Is that submariner still 40 mm ?

Good question. I'm pretty sure these were 40mm and not the old 38mm of the non CG Subs.
Awesome watch Mario. I can't believe some of the chocolate gilt dials you have managed to nab for a quick photograph. Must be something in the New Zealand air.....
Some collectors go ga-ga over these rare examples.
Thanks for sharing mate, I wish I could see it in the flesh.
Cheers!!

Wow, that's one of the more unique subs I have EVER seen! So much to love: * Gilt dial * Silver depth rating (never seen that before) * Tropic dial * Red bezel triangle * Square crown guards * Butterfly rotor * Original riveted bracelet I hesitate to ask, but with all the uniqueness going on here, any idea on the value of it if it were for sale?

Stunning!! How in the world do you find those models?? I'm lucky in this way, if a unique watch comes in for Service or Repair, my Watchmaker rings and tells me if I wanted to take some pictures of a rare watch to pop in. At times I'm very, very lucky and can keep it for the weekend for a picture session. Roger, as for the price, would be hard to put a figure on it. Would have to do more research, but hard to find examples like it.

It's a seriously cool watch Kiwi and that's very cool of your watchmaker to allow you to photograph it.

I know this sounds a bit unusual, but for the first time I would like to have seen a vintage beauty as it was when it was brand new. What an incredible example, thanks so much or showing it for all of us Mario! That is a wonderful piece indeed!!!
