Because a chapter ring dial is going to be $1200+ dollars. Service dial is a few hundred. I don't want to look down at refinished crooked junk everyday. One dark spot on my service dial which is common for matte dial and doesn't look bad at all under a crystal. The watch lost it's original print. Can't ever be a honest watch after that. Can be honest with the service dial though, Just a fun low cost Sub for me to keep. Nothing more If one day a chapter fall into me lap. A chapter ring I shall have. Until then $1200 is best served putting towards the next watch I buy. It's a 1966, it won't be a chapter ring, you could get a nice Rose dial for a lot less money, just saying. But, nevertheless, I respect your decision to put a service dial on it.

My other 7928 was 1966 and it has a silver chapter ring?? 1966 is too late for a chapter ring I think Roscoe, it would be a simple Rose dial I'm almost sure, I may be wrong so I'll do some checking.

Roscoe, Try calling "It's Time Clock Shop" in Clarksville, TN. The guy has had quite a stock of used parts for quite a while now. Here is thier info, dude's name is Drew. too long a story but I don't trade with him anymore (personal reasons) but he has alot of stuff and is a authorized Rolex repair man Hope this helps and good luck,
