After owning the AT Skyfall for a few months now, this beauty continues to impress me more each day.
I found that when I kept it wound all week, wore my Speedmaster during the week, and the AT only at weekends, the accuracy was around +3 sec/day at best. Now that I wear the AT every day, it is definitely more accurate, at about +1.5 sec/day. More than acceptable. I have heard of many 8500 movements that are even more accurate (Katgirl's was, I believe +- 0 sec/day!).
There has been quite a lot of discussion about whether the new blue dial Omegas (Seamaster, De Ville, PO) should have the black background in the date window. Some even suggest it was done to save money. Definitely, a lot of testing must have gone into this function, including which font to use and which colour. I have to say that the silver font on the black background makes the date very readable indeed. The readability is such that I can even sometimes see the date without my reading glasses. Having the midsize 38.5mm size watch means that the date window is quite small. And the fact that the date background is black is something that you really don't even notice:
Now my confession: I need glasses only for reading and other closeup vision. I find myself wanting to look at my watch even when I am out at the pub or a restaurant. Putting on reading glasses for that was too obvious, I thought. So, I found myself a pair of bifocal reading glasses. The upper part of the lens is just glass, and the bottom part magnifies. I tell everyone that I got these so during dinner I can read the menu, see the food on my plate better, and still see distances without having blurred vision. In fact, I can now glance down at my watch whenever without looking like a damn fool!
Cheers
