Just picked up the new August issue. On the last page, Flashback, there is a great wrist shot of a Rolex Submariner from 1959! A 6538 model?

The 6538 (660 ft), 6536 (330 ft), and 5508 were all produced in 1959 according to www.vintagesubmariners.com. Neither the 6538 nor 6536 had crown guards, which this one doesn't, the 5508 did.

Looks like a 6538 or possibly the ultra rare 5510. The 6538 gets my vote.
A dream watch for me.

That's awesome! I love seeing these sorts of ad's from back in the day. Such a rich history behind these watches, how sweet it would be to own one of those.
