It was a new 16710 GMT 'Coke', from an AD in Switzerland. Long time ago! I wore it for 5 years, then sold it in London for about the same I paid for it.

42/43 yoa. My wife bought me a pre-owned 16710 Coke. Don't know how she scrimped and saved for it, at the time it was way above what we could afford. I still have it, it's not one I can sell and it is still in gorgeous condition.

My first one was a vintage 5513. Guess I was 24/25 years old at the time. A lot of different models have come and gone over the years.

45 and a Z series 16600 Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards That seemed inevitable due to the fact that you're into diving. Since then though you picked up some incredible dive watches from various manufacturers. It was a new 16710 GMT 'Coke', from an AD in Switzerland. Long time ago! I wore it for 5 years, then sold it in London for about the same I paid for it. An excellent choice for a first Rolex! Was it hard for you to part with or did another piece make it easy to get rid of? 42/43 yoa. My wife bought me a pre-owned 16710 Coke. Don't know how she scrimped and saved for it, at the time it was way above what we could afford. I still have it, it's not one I can sell and it is still in gorgeous condition. It's cool that you still have that one! The fact that it was a gift from your wife though makes it clear why as it means so much more. You must have been thrilled when she gave it to you! This was the first GMT Master II I ever saw in person, in the AD window back in 2003. My first one was a vintage 5513. Guess I was 24/25 years old at the time. A lot of different models have come and gone over the years. It would be so cool to own one of those. How long did you have it for? Getting to try out many watches in the long run can at times be better than just buying and holding one.

Had it a couple of years and let it go for something more modern. Had the 5513 on my wrist when my daughter was born and regretted selling it after a few months. Had different models both modern and vintage. Few years ago I found an immaculate 1680, sooo nice and sharp. Couldn't get used to the high plexi with cyclops. After I installed a domed T19 it became my perfect vintage rolex and the last one to leave the collection if necessary. My other favourite is the 116520 with racing or panda dial. Wear Speedmasters most of the time though. The 1680 with T19: 116520 with racing/panda on my daughters wrist from the archives

It's funny you mention that because a while back when trying to decide what's next for me I looked into that again and felt the same. Anyhow I had one there's no way I could wear it considering it's impossible to get those inserts from anyone but Rolex. The few that came up for sale were not even flat 4 inserts and sold for several hundred dollars more than the regular black aluminum insert for the 16610. It's a lot of cash to put into a safe queen, indeed. This is my biggest fear of ever selling my Explorer II, so my solution is to just keep it and wait it out for the next Rolex

I got my first Rolex at 21 years old. was a preowned 18k yellow gold datejust. i bought a aftermarket 18k diamond band and bezel for it. I'm now 27 and bought a preowned yellow gold president daydate. I would love to own a brand new president but i can't afford to spend that much on a watch. I really shouldn't of even got my second rolex at 27 because I have a child on the way and I'm far from financially secure when I bought my first one I was young and had no one to look out for but myself and now I got a family.

Welcome to the forum. I've seen some nice looking Day Dates with just straps. If you want to dress it up a little more, there's a guy out of Singapore on another forum that is making custom endlinks to fill the gap at the lugs between the watch head and the strap. If interested, let me know and I can send you his info.

I probably answered this already.
My first one was at 30, the EXP II and my second one, the LV, was at 35.
I still have them both.
