That's a sweet looking watch I think it looks fantastic on the leather strap I am almost certain that I will try to source some end links from Etur and stick it on a black alligator. The Tudor that I borrowed from Baco Noir last year looked awesome and I think I want to replicate that look.

Chip, are you having it serviced locally or sending it to Rolex? Just asking as if you have a good local guy that can service Rolex you will have it back quicker! Oh, and what is this "Etur" you speak of? I am thinking of putting my AK on a strap, do you need different spring bars to the ones already used for the bracelet? I know the Breitling has two different types, one for strap the other for bracelet.

Oh, and what is this "Etur" you speak of? I am thinking of putting my AK on a strap, do you need different spring bars to the ones already used for the bracelet? I know the Breitling has two different types, one for strap the other for bracelet. I have a local guy that I trust and has done great work for me and aerome in the past. He is always backed up so if he quotes me too long of a wait I might send it to Florida, to a shop that pawnshopkiller is familiar with. The end links I was talking about look very similar to the hollow end links that Rolex used to have on their watches but are made to take a leather strap. I'm sure you have seen Daytonas, Day Dates and Sky-Dwellers on strap and you might have noticed the end link that connects the strap to the case. Well, since Rolex does not offer SS watches on strap, some people out there started making that particular part in SS. You can see it in the pics below.

Etur seems to be out of the business of making those endlinks for straps, but there is a new guy on TRF doing it and his User ID is Smartyjones18

Roger and Chip thanks for the info! I am going to bookmark the ebay seller that beautiful Tudor is making my resolve to put the AK on a strap even stronger. I love how the vintage Rolexs that would have normally been on a bracelet look with a strap. I reckon a nice simple slightly padded calf hirsch in black would look great on the AK and with the addition of those end pieces even better. I have always loved the look of the Daytona on a strap with the fitted end pieces.

Thanks man!
I knew it needs a service but it is in WAY better shape than what I thought. The watch runs fine but the crown is a bit funky and the clasp needs a good brush.
Other than that... it looks good. I was serviced 4 years ago by RSC Dallas.
The guy bought it brand new so it's been a one owner watch.

Looks like it is almost 14 years old and it was purchased at an AD just 3 miles away from my house.

It looks to be in great condition and I love the filled roman numerals. It's a real classy looking piece.
