Some "interesting" designs here. Not very functional I must say. Never thought I'd see such large garish text on a PP as is on the blue dialed dictators watch.

These faces are too busy for me, I would get the 5227, lovely cream dial and hingeless back, just a stunning watch but price is way beyond me.

Totally agree Dave. Very hard to read the time and sub dials on these. I hate to think what the blue one is priced at.

The scroll work on the blue one is amazing, but they killed it with the large lettering at the bottom. I think most PP buyers would be turned off by the text that almost feels like an advertising bumper sticker for the brand rather than something necessary on the dial.

way too blingy for me. I get the feeling they are targeting the middle east and/or asian markets. For the most part I prefer understated elegance.

The Sky Moon is one of those watches that if I won the Euro Millions I would go out and buy all the complications needed over the time period allowed by Patek so that could own one. Hopefully by then this generation will be altered slightly and they would have gotten rid of the large lettering at the bottom.. But who am I kidding, I am a sucker for Cloisonné , engraving and all those wonderful complications so I would learn to live with it just because the amount of human effort involved in making it fascinates me!
I really like how they have executed the diamonds on the bezel of the last one as well, very subtle and from a distance you would not know they were diamonds until they sparkled!
I had no idea until talking to my local Patek AD what hoops Patek make you go through to get one of the Sky Moons. She has a customer aiming for one so he has been buying the grand complications needed (last time I spoke to her about this you need to have purchased 6 grand complications to be "allowed" to apply to purchase the Sky Moon!) but they cut him off at three the first year and three the next then another two years before he is allowed to buy the Sky Moon!
Seems Patek take seriously their history and brand and won't let any old Johnny or Jill go right to the top of the tree right away, they want the true collectors and enthusiasts only into that territory!
I think if I had the funds I would start with the RG ten day Tourbillion on the road to Sky Moon land!

I think if I had the funds I would start with the RG ten day Tourbillion on the road to Sky Moon land! Great watches, I'll always like this brand and be able to appreciate the rich history. I'm still convinced collecting Patek's is a Billionares game due to how they have this all setup. It's harder than getting Ferrari's flagship vehivles like the Enzo, LaFerrari etc. This is awesome though, it gives you a sense of exclusivity like none other and for what they cost this is required! It's even worse to buy second hand as those watches have INTENSE premiums like I've seen dealers in Manhattan selling for.
