Just got home to find the Timex waiting for me. This is the first generation Timex Electric made in West Germany the same year I was born, 1963. Its a good honest watch and is ticking away nicely though the seller said the dial could do with a clean and he is right. So I think I will purchase a crystal removal tool from eBay (the movement is removed from the front of this watch so you have to remove the crystal. I don't need to remove the movement as its working find but removal of the crystal is the only way I am going to get to the dial. It looks in really nice shape, its just whoever was in their last left their finger print between 7-9! Hmm, though, that is a part of the story I guess! There is some of the gold plating missing as well but i knew that also and for what I got this for really it still was an absolute steal. I have seen non working ones in need of major restoration go for what I paid for this!. The oddest thing with this first generation one is the way it works. Backset is the first thing but this is an electro-mechanical watch so listening to it it ticks like a mechanical watch but the second hand ticks like a quartz, its really weird to experience!
