Am I the only one that isn't bat-sh*t crazy over the Daytona reference? I just don't get the hype, no matter what style it is; old, ceramic bezel, stainless, TT or 18k. Then . . . perhaps it is just me; I've been wrong before.

I go back and forth.
If it wasn't rare, I don't think I'd be too attracted to it, and that's because I just don't think it's a very useful chronograph. Let me explain myself: 99.9 percent of instances I had to time something, it was a spur of the moment decision, and I just cannot stand the fact that you have to unscrew the pushers to use the chrono function. To me, it makes no sense at all.
I like the looks now that it's ceramic, but I cannot get over the screwed in pushers.

Overpriced reference and in my opinion it’s just another reason to avoid modern Rolex. They continue to produce the same old stuff year after year, simply making them bigger, more shiny and with a twist of their ever so fragile ceramic. If you’ve got an average Joe’s yearly salary to blow, blow it on something unique, anyone with a pocketful of coin can buy a modern Rolex.

I sometimes wear mine but if I got an offer I wouldn't mind passing it along to someone who appreciates it more.

I’m luke warm on the stainless steel bezel version, but the ceramic bezel white version drives me crazy. I love it!

Wasn’t a big fan until they put a ceramic bezel on it

I agree with Chip about the pushers and that is why I sold my last Daytona. But I admit, I absolutely love the looks of the new Ceramic ones.

Robb, CHIP, and rockmastermike - the ceramic did it for me too on the white dial and PM models - the increased contrast gave it more style IMHO.

White dial with black ceramic does it for me. Someday I want to get a white dial Daytona with the Zenith movement.

I find them quite interesting. And beautiful, in most cases, but not quite always. Robb's Daytona with the blue bezel, though... Stunning!

The very first and most important criteria a watch I'm going to purchase must have is that I like it. This model does nothing for me aesthetically.
So I guess I'm with the OP - not a watch I would spend my money on, even if it was 1/2 the current price.
Cheers, Al

dba, you are not alone. For me, it is one of those models that IMO is way over-hyped. Some models I like better than others, and often admire them on someone's wrist. But never a watch I would consider for myself. The only watch of that type I would ever consider is the Zenith Chronomaster El Primero 1969 Original 38mm. Yes, I know it does not have the hacking seconds function, but many people like myself can still live and breath without that. Not only does it have the fantastic El Primero movement, but it is probably the most aesthetically pleasing and versatile chronograph I know.
Cheers, Carl
