I assume Rolex made this just to recapture the depth rating crown. Maybe the grade 5 titanium will make its way down to production size models for human beings. www.rolex.com/watches/sea-dweller/m126067-0001.htmlMy Breitling Blackbird Avenger is 47 mm, but it’s thin and has curved lugs and a strap that hugs the wrist.

Baco Noir That's pretty cool! This is more a "safe queen" to own a piece of engineering excellence. This is a hard piece for many to pull off, not sure if I could wear one. Either way it's about the same diameter as some Citizen divers and other brands, albeit way thicker I bet. With unlimited funds and the ability to get one directly from an AD, I would own one of these simply for what it can endure. Similar to the new Planet Ocean ultra deep, it's fascinating but by no means wearable for many.

Saw some of the first shots of this piece on another forum and will share the quotes here.

rw16610 - thanks for sharing those Rommel. It’s as oversized as I expected. It’s a bragging rights model for Rolex to reclaim the deepest diver on the market.

I thought my SuperOcean was thick, not anymore. Yeah, the SO is tiny compared to that beast.

Nearly fell off my chair when I saw this one. I’m tipping it’ll be very limited. Can’t find anything on the Rolex site re thickness. Unwearable in my opinion. The dial itself seems to be the same size , just the inner ring and bezel have been stretched.

Someone on another forum who lives in the US says he saw a bodybuilder wearing one at a local mall. That would make sense, so would NFL players, rugby players, you get the idea. I would love to see one of these in person but not sure when or if that'll ever happen. Although I've never tried on the regular Deepsea, I'm sure I could pull one off. This is mainly due to the fact I have the 45.5mm Planet Ocean Chronograph. Even that I found to be uncomfortable at times compared to just about anything else in the collection, but love it. The James Cameron Deepsea is my ideal "extreme" dive watch for lack of a better word. Still think it's cool Rolex achieved this and made it available for sale. Source on image Source on image Image from google I have a hard time getting truly excited for anything they offer now since they're overly difficult to obtain. However, I'll always have an appreciation for this brands history, it's achievements, and the fond memories from years ago.

rw16610 - I hear you. I too have lost my excitement over their new releases since they are unobtainable. I’ve been waiting more 4 years for my WG sub and who knows if I’ll ever get the call. I retired this year and turned 60 and was hoping to get it to mark these milestones, but who knows anymore - my AD doesn’t and he’s tried to work with his regional rep to make it happen. It’s a black box even to the ADs and reps.

Baco Noir I'm sorry to hear that, I guess that old saying "A crown for every achievement" is meaningless now. The only real achievement with these is being able to get that arrival call from the authorized dealer. Hearing stories like yours (and the countless others online on forums like TRF) is a true shame. For an otherwise regular watch like these, there should never be such a long waiting period. The worst part is, just about any model can be found online right now for many thousands of dollars over MSRP. Compared to rare pieces, you'll see search results totalling in the hundreds for many "hard to get from an AD" piece. I didn't see this particular model just yet, as I didn't look. However, now I'm intrigued to see what it'll get listed for as collectors, many of which wouldn't even be able to wear this due to the size seek to add this conversation piece. I really miss the early 2000s, those were some of the best years in the brands more modern history in my opinion. Oh how nice it was to visit an AD to browse just about anything in the catalog and have the ability to pay and take it home with you then and there. Back in the day it's why I was never keen on getting a Daytona, now the entire product offering is that and then some.

After a bit of digging, it seems this watch is 23.3mm thick.
