So apparently this happened at some stage in 2022, depending on AD inventory of the older boxes. I'm grateful to have two of the originals, as I see it as more of a jewellery box, but do appreciate the travel case addition. All images below were found in Google. Original Image from watchcharts.com New Image from watchuseek.com Image from omegaforums.net Image from redd.it I'm going to be (eventually) trying to find that travel portion on eBay so it can be added to my collection. For an actual travel pouch, I prefer the older Omega service case: Image from watchuseek.com I've heard the new service case is basically the center of the new box,not sure if all service locations are issues these yet but it was confirmed on another forum by someone who received this with their watch. Another cool find Rommel. I guess I’m old school, but I prefer the smaller watch boxes to the newer huge “presentation” boxes. When I do eventually flip a watch it makes it much cheaper to ship and doesn’t take up as much space while it’s in storage. Like you, the service cases are nice if you want to protect a watch while traveling, yet most times I just use a watch roll - again, takes up less space.

Baco Noir - I 100% agree there. They've fixed one problem and ultimately created another in some ways. I'm fond of the concept that the box will last and not transfer paint / dye to everything it contacts as the older red ones eventually did. However, these new boxes are fairly large and heavy, indeed. When you factor in the outer box, it's massive: Image from watchbox For a piece that will be flipped it only adds to shipping and I see this evident with some of the Chrono24 listings. Image from chrono24.com Image from redd.it I've never seen the full outer box for the Speedmaster in person, but can only imagine. It's cool, but becomes as issue if you've got several boxes like that laying around. I'm happy with the ones I have but not a clue what would be done if I were to acquire more, as I've run out of space. For the smaller number of watches being kept it's fine, but with shipping rates today it's a factor. I've seen instances where sellers had the watch and accessories (minus the big boxes) for sale, which might become more common for flippers, as you can source the box if desired on eBay.

So I ended up finding an excellent example on eBay from a seller in the UK. We were able to agree on a price and it arrived yesterday. The quality is superb, as expected. It's very heavy (feels like wood underneath the leather material), similar to the full box shown above. Sellers listing images below: It feels like a more reasonably sized watch box over all, very nice in general, and I could see why some would want to take it places or store the watch in it vs. the massive one. However, I personally wouldn't travel with it. As some have pointed out, a watch roll would be better, or at least a more discreet case. Either way I'm happy to have this in my collection now.

Nice find Rommel. What are the dimensions on that? And, it does look really well made.

Baco Noir Thanks! It's 4 inches long, 3.5 inches high and 3 inches wide, approximately. I could see someone using this as a watch box on their side table or for those who like taking the full set everywhere, this would be a sure way to make it possible. Given the current Omega line, with beautiful movements displayed, larger/ thicker case sizes, it was necessary to do this I feel. The Planet Ocean Chronograph is massive and doesn't fit as nicely into the older style case. Didn't put it in here yet but I'm certain it would be a better fit for a piece like that.

Nice. That’s a good size for travel if needed.
