I'm never done! Although the watches of interest have narrowed significantly (other than what I already own), I needed this.
Yes, I said it. Hear me out though! The Breitling A13340's I own are easily my favourite daily wear watches, hands down. My only two issues with them are:
1) Having to unscrew the Chronograph pushers each time can be fun but is more of a barrier to use in some situations. Although Breitling service confirmed to me the watch is still water resistant with then unscrewed, they can't be depressed with moisture present it submerged. So the screw down feature is to prevent accidental pushes of those.
2) It's SO flashy! I don't mind this under normal circumstances, but there are times where I prefer to keep a low profile. My recent international trip is a great example, if the watch was brushed I would've happily taken it. The Casio World Time served me well but I wanted to wear something of my preference. Breitling service here told me they no longer brush these watches out as they recently had someone request it, then complain and they had to replace his bracelet. So they'll only restore the watch to factor spec at service unless specified not to touch it. Damn, and I don't know of anyone capable to do this locally. Also, the watch head is designed to match a polished bracelet, it just won't look right in my opinion. Yes, I could use a rubber strap (went to an AD to browse), but I find those uncomfortable for me personally in tropical climates.
So, given my desire to have a more under the radar luxury watch to responsibly travel with was the Omega Seamaster 2598.80! This design was launched in 1993 originally, and ultimately was fitted with the blue bezel for the 2599.80, the exact same watch.
It's seemingly less noticable from a distance and has more of an ability to blend in. At roughly $2,000 USD plus import fees I'm not too worried about it either, as this is one of the last few models that can still be found for somewhat reasonable prices. It's also running at between +5 to +15 seconds per day depending on the position and is in excellent condition, so hopefully I can wear it for a couple of years at least before sending it in for a service.
