rw16610 I would never spend six figures on a watch, but then again, I never said I’d pay 30k either. Hahaha

I'm with you on that, Steve. For some reason I would rather spend the six figures on several pieces being added to my existing collection. But like you say, as circumstances change so does our take on this.
This historically significant pieces which are so rare make using them, especially daily someone many (including myself) are less likely to do.

It’s crazy money, Rommel. However, you have a point. I’m not too good at rotation. I find one watch and keep wearing it, and the other rests in the safe, collecting dust. I’m weird; I try everything and always end up with some form of a Sub. It’s iconic for me. If I had “crazy money”, I would love a big crown, but it would be hard for me to drop that kind of money, not knowing if it was a put-together or not. Vintage is a minefield. My Red Sub came from a very reputable dealer in the Netherlands, otherwise I wouldn’t have traded with him.

The Submariner is as popular as it is for a good reason. It's hard to want much else with one of those. The same is true for all in my opinion, past and present. At least you got to experience those other watches and will enjoy what you now have even more. After that Omega debacle at auction I'm skeptical even for examples such as the above: www.hodinkee.com/articles/everything-we-know-about-the-record-breaking-omega-speedmaster-caught-in-controversyNow this won't always be the case, and a great dealer like the one you found is always the way to go. For pieces like the 16600 I remember when they were new so to me this feels like a small advantage. If I were to start looking at Rolex watches from the 60s etc, I've got no clue.
