the more they remain the same. I fondled these watches for a good part of Saturday and could not get over what a timeless and classic design the Sub date has about it. Of interest, each of these sub has a unique coronet which prompts the age old question why did Rolex do that? What is really odd is that the two 16610s are only a few serial digits apart (D0xxxx & F8xxxx) yet different coronets as well. Ref. Clockwise - 16800, 16610 LV, 16610, 1680

Looking at that pic makes me realize just how easy it is to get sucked into this Rolex fever. Great sub collection Clifton! I didn't even like Rolex at the beginning of the year. Now I have 1 (almost 2) and a few others are on my wish list. Go figure.

Here is a closer look of what I'm talking about with the coronets. Clockwise - 1680, 16610, 16610LV, 16800.

That's interesting that they do that. I can understand on the vintage, but the LV & 16610 you'd think would be the same.

Funny you should mention about getting "sucked into this Rolex fever" Sam. Now that I'm thinking about owning only a few really good watches, I'm turning back to Rolex. Like Clifton says, they are classic. Others imitate them, but nothing else is a Rolex. As many things as I can find to complain about them, Rolex is the brand I'll go back to in the end. Speaking of classic, I'm loving this watch after 3 days of wearing it.

On occasion a design comes along that is right the first time. Rolex did this with the Sub. Over the years minor tweaking changes have occured. Some with useability in mind, some more cosmetic, but none that has strayed from the basic design. This I think has always been a Rolex strong suit and has made it such a timeless classic. As far as the coronet goes,I don't know, but it sure make them that much more fun.
