I did a call to my AD and they said a basic service for a cleaning, oiling and polish goes now for CDN$350.
That's pretty good considering three years ago it was $300. Of course there's 15% tax on top of that too.

That's great! In the States it's around $450 USD,plus tax.

I've heard a lot of good things about Rolex Canada. I've also been told they accept watches from the US, but I was not sure how the whole customs thing would work. Any ideas atomic?

Would be nice to have another option. Wonder if there's a difference since it would be going for service as opposed to a purchase?

Sending an Omega to Bienne for service requires some customs paperwork but no extra duty/charges. Living in Dallas, I'll hand-carry my Rolex into Dallas RSC even if it's $100 more than shipping to Canada.

If an American (even say in Niagara Falls, NY) were to ship their Rolex to Toronto for service, the cost of shipping and insurance would eat up any gains in our lower service cost (and the advantage you'd have with the US greenback against our dollar). If I were to take my watch (in Ottawa) to a local AD for them to ship to Toronto for a service, I'd be looking at an extra $100 round trip. BTW, Rolex Canada is owned by Rolex itself, unlike Rolex USA which is a separate and I believe privately owned company. The service there is excellent, friendly and quick, there's a sumptuous display of Rolex bling in their service waiting room, that is furnished with big comfy green leather couches, fresh fruit and chocolate and smokin' hot female receptionists.

The extra $$$ would not bother me. I just want a service center that will treat the watch right. I'm beginning to loose faith in the US SCs. They give you the impression they own your watch and you have no say whatsoever. Not to mention they have made some pretty significant screw ups!!!

Rolex Canada offers excellent service from my POV, and from many guys I've talked to. They'll do things that RUSA won't do, like work on watches with aftermarket dials, or NOS dials/clasps that aren't spec'ed for that watch. Granted, they also try to upsell you on things you don't need... but if you request them to not change a faded dial or hands, they won't. And if you do make a change, you can request to have the old parts back, and they'll give them to you in a nice little Rolex service box.

I agree,at the value these watches possess a little extra shipping & ins is worth it. Getting the old parts back, and controlling the destiny of your watch more than offsets!!
