Greetings,
I'm hoping to get a ballpark value for this Antarctic D by Nivada Grenchen. There are adv flyers for this watch on Ebay but no watches.
One 1958 flyer promotes it as "The Watch that went to the Antarctic"
Watch will run for a minute or two (self winding) then quits.
Also do watch movements have any value at all?
I have a Lucian Picard SeaShark movment no case. Should I just trash it? I've carried it around for 50 years because I can't bear to trash such a beautiful piece of machinery.
Thanks for the help.
Jim

I can't really help on the value of the Antarctic watch, but the movement you have may have some value. Hard to tell what movement it is by the name of the watch, so are there are numbers or symbols on the movement near the balance wheel?
Cheers, Al

Thanks for the reply.
The Nivada "Antacrtic D" model has been hard to find info on.
As for the Lucian Picard...
I don't know names for watch parts but the semi circular self winding counter balance wheel? is stamped LUCIAN PICARD and Supreme.
A number is stamped on the movement: E 41650 Also stamped is 17 Jewels Swiss and a small shield with the letters LP and number 40.
Any info would be appreciated. I'd like to get to someone who can appreciate it.
Regards,
Jim

I looked at a well known seller of vintage movements to see if I could find the LP 40 with 17 jewels. They didn't have that specific movement for sale, but the LP 48's and LP 50's they had there in very good condition were running about $30 each.
Cheers, Al
