Hi guys,
how do I remove the stem from a Police watch? One of the dials has come off and I would like to repair it without having to spend money getting it repaired.
Also if I remove the stem how do I get it to stay back in?
thanks in advance
Mikey

You'll have to look hard, but there will be a small screw on the watch mechanism somewhere around the point where the stem is fitted into the movement. Remove the screw and the stem will come out. Reverse the process to reinstall. Maybe Al will chime in with a better explanation.

If you can post a clear photo of the movement, I might be able to help. If it's a quartz watch, then there is likely a small tab that you will push down on while gently pulling the stem. Someimes this tab will only appear with the stem in a specific position. Often there will be an arrow on the movement pointing to where the stem release button is.
If it is a mechanical watch, it may also have a button, but it may have a screw. Do not try to remove the screw, just unscrew it (with the crown pulled out to the setting position) enough to let the stem come out. If you unscrew it too far you will disengage the setting parts and the hands and dial will have to come off to fix it.
Cheers, Al
