Hi guys, I have a Hamilton Khaki Auto Chrono and I wanted your "expert" advice. It keeps near perfect time BUT when the Chrono is running the large second hand jumps, it seems to be keeping good time but it stutters along. It has always done this and it has had a full service at Hamilton and still does it. I would like to know is this a known issue with Auto Chrono's and is nothing to bother about or is in need of repair?

It's not normal in a properly serviced and adjusted watch.
If it's done this from new, then the depth of engagement between the oscillating pinion and chrono wheel was not set correctly, or the chronograph wheel friction spring is not providing enough friction.
If this was something that was happening over time, I would say the teeth on the chronograph wheel are worn, but that would not be the case from a new state. I do replace these wheels due to worn teeth quite often on ETA 7750 based watches.
I don't think this will cause any damage to your movement, but it's not the way the watch should be working.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Al
