Well, today was decision time. The last watch I tried on was the Rolex Submariner, and thought that it might be the one. Then my thoughts went back to the many, many times I have tried on the Skyfall AT - midsize, 38.5mm, blue dial. Made up my mind to try on the AT for the last time, and make a choice. If I still had the same rection as the previous times, then it would be the one. And now it is.
Sorry for the hideous excuse of a photo (embarrassed). My camera battery needs replacing, and all I have is a miserable 1.3MP camera on my cell phone. Nevertheless, just as proof that I actually own this gem, here is a shot:
Tomorrow I am meeting up with my good friend Ian, and he is going to bring his camera. So I will have some waaaay better pics.
There is really not much I can say about this watch that has not already been said by me and others. The size is absolutely perfect. Definitely the most perfectly sized watch I have ever had. The Explorer I is great, but the 2.5mm more, I must admit, give this watch the edge. I don't believe that I will ever find it too big nor too small. Once I had it on my wrist, I had to admit that although I love the Rolex Sub, this just suits me a lot better. And the Sub is not a big watch. All I can say is that this AT just feels right. The dial is a gem, and just so interesting. The bracelet is perfect, and the 19mm lug size is in absolute perfect proportion with the dial. Once you get used to the butterfly clasp, it's easy. There are two half links in the bracelet, and they took both out for me, now the watch fits perfectly. The bracelet, to me, is just perfect with this watch. Being a bracelet guy, I honestly can't see myself ever switching it for a strap.
As I said months ago, when this midsize came out with the blue dial, I feel it is the perfect watch.
I asked Ian to bring his camera along for our GTG tomorrow, telling him that I want a couple more pics of my Speedy. He has no idea I got this AT.
Guess I shall have to go back to the thread I started entitled "If you could have only one watch....". Instead of the Submariner, I know that this is the right choice!
Some real pics tomorrow!
Cheers
Carl
