Well, my Explorer I was really a big joy to me over the past 3 years. I figure it deserves a thread of it's own. About 10 days ago, I took it and my Cartier Tank Solo down to a shop, which deals mainly in watch repairs, but has also a very nice display of pre owned watches, which they have on consignment. They also have a waiting list for people looking for a specific model. The Cartier Tank was not on a list, but a chap saw it the first day and bought it. The lady at the shop phoned a couple of people on her list, and they sold it on Friday. Barely a week. I had the Explorer on the forums for months, and not a bite. Canada only, of course. I really didn't do badly, their commission is very fair. Here's one of the last shots I took of the watch: I just hope it went to someone who will enjoy it and take care of it as I did. No regrets here. I jumped the gun a little bit on the new AT8500, I was to have waited until the two watches sold. So it worked out well in the end. Some of these funds will go toward my next Omega. Cheers Carl

Reading how you wrote about it, it's obvious that you had a good connection with watch, but I think you made a great choice. The AT has all the class of the Exp I and a bit more style IMHO.

Pleased you've managed to get it sorted in good time Carl, I'm sure whenever your missing either watch a look at the AT will put a smile on your face. I'm with Roger, think that AT is a stunner

Mine lasted just a few short months. Most of the time in its box. I began to dislike it intensely after about two days. Tried wearing it three times and each period it got worse. I've never owned a watch that I hated, but that one came close. Final insult was I lost about $1200 on it.

I made the mistake of buying without seeing or trying it on.
When it arrived I immediately saw It was way too small for my wrist.
Also, I was wrong in thinking I could live without a date on my watch.

I tried one on just a few days ago and the size was perfect for my wrist, but in my many years of having a sub/date and date-just, I just could not live without that date.

I never worried about a date, for me it's just clutter. If I have a problem I just look at my phone.

My SM300 I'm having built will be my first ND watch, and that's a worry for me too. But I like the dial better on that watch without the date. Honestly, I love dials with the date window at 4:30 position since it allows the balance still with the 3, 6, 9, and 12 markers.

I thought the same about having a date. But having a Speedy soon changed that, but that's a weekend only watch. So I wondered how I'd get on without a date on a everyday piece? The Sub ND answered the question with- who needs a date, look at your phone :-)

No you are not an idiot. If you are happy with what you have then it should be fine. I know a watchmaker in my town who wears a wrist watch with a single hand. He is very happy with it. Each to their own.

But I still like having a date on my watch.
