Well, I had an email this week from the Boutique that this watch was in, so down I went today to have a look. First 8508 in Canada. The 8508 caliber, to me, is amazing, but of course it looks identical to the 8500. I must admit, the aesthetics looked more appealing to me - far more so - than in the photos I have seen so far. Apparently, it's a black dial with some kind of a yellow treatment, which gives it a bit shiner surface, and also makes it look sort of dark brown, or maybe anthracite. The markers also are diamond polished, so they have an extra sparkle to them than the regular ATs (at least, to me). The whole watch, with the PCLs sparkles brightly, especially compared to any photos I have seen. To me, it's just too "busy" a dial, especially for a simple chronometre with only a date function. Perhaps that is why the eliminated the frame around the date window, which is sadly missing IMO. Got some fairly decent wrist shots of the AT as well as some pics of a few other models I saw: I still prefer the midsize 38.5mm Really like the next two shots. Gives a much better idea of how the watch actually looks. You can see the shininess of the dial as well as the PCLs. So, this one's for Roger!! New Speedy '57 Reissue TT. The only one they received so far. This is a gorgeous TT, and suits the watch well. The bezel, push pins and crown are all red gold. The red gold really seems to work well on this, I'm not usually a fan.
One of my favourites right now, the Bullhead reissue. I'm don't usually care for white dials, but this one is so stunning and such an excellent retro look, it almost looks like an original vintage to me:
Had to get a side of the Dark Side of the Moon. Not a big deal to me, but loved my many:
Hope you enjoyed my Boutique visit. My sincere thank to Sasan and my other friends there, where I am always treated more like a friend than a client!
Cheers Carl

PCLs for me, yeah right! I do like the size, but I think the bumble bee effect would go from being cool to too trendy for me after a little while. I'm still thinking about a 41.5 mm blue AT, but think I'd like the thinner 2500 version. Looks like another fun day at the Omega store Carl.

Yeah, other than the movement, the watch does nothing for me. When I went in at noon, just after the Boutique opened, there was actually two other guys ahead of me to look at it. One had a Rolex Milgauss. They spent a lot of time with it. As far as thickness goes, I tried on the new Speedy ,57 reissue. It's thicker than the AT, and I thought it would be uncomfortable. Once on my wrist, I didn't notice the thickness at all. My AT seems quite thick, but I think that's because it's the midsize and the case size/thickness ratio is different. Still, I do like the looks that the bit of thickness gives it, while still being comfortable. Cheers Carl

If I remember correctly the TT ,67 I saw and tried with the brown leather strap is MSRP $10,600 Cheers, Carl

Hummmm, just saw the release post on their FB and home page and it's really IMPRESSIVE that they did not use a metal cage around the movement to avoid magnetism, but instead made the movement from anti-magnetic material. This allowed them to use a sapphire caseback to show the movement and reach levels of >15,000 Gauss without getting magnetized, where the watches with the cages can only get to about 1000 Gauss of protection. Well done Omega! www.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/aqua-terra-150-m/presentation/seamaster-aqua-terra-15000-gaussIf I could get rid of that bumble bee second hand and brush out the PCLs, then....

Hi Roger, Yes, the technology is pretty amazing. Basically, because the actual parts of the movement, ie the actual movement itself is anti-magnetic, they can basically add as many functions to the watch as desired. The aesthetics of the first model really leave a lot to be desired IMO. However, this is only the beginning. I guess they had to introduce the movement with something unique, but I'm really waiting to see it in other models. I am very curious to see what will be the next model to receive the movement. Well, the design must appeal to some. The first one they got is already sold. Cheers, Carl

I think the bumble bee second gives the watch that little bit of difference to mark it out. As is very similar to the standard AT it just makes it that bit different. I think the next model we'll see this movement in will be the Planet Ocean. But you've got to say well done to Omega for getting it into production

I think the second hand is the best part of this watch.

I saw it today at the boutique. Lose the polished links and I like it.

Carl Omega isn't playing around in terms of competing with other long standing Swiss watch makers. What nice watches and again, they seem to offer things in a way that other's do not. No compromises to be made as there's something for everyone. A long list of nice no date watches, Chronograph's and even dive chronograph watches with pushers that can be used all the way down to the depth rating. Too many other reasons to list in regards to why I feel Omega has been doing such a good job.
