Went to see my doc today and he had on a real nice Krieger Velocita with triple MOP subdials over gold on a brown leather strap. First one I've seen. Struck up a conversation and found another watch geek and glad I did. I was getting tired of talking about Viagra . This was a quartz, I favor autos. What are the collective thoughts about this brand. Al

Long time ago, about 6 years ago, I almost bought a Krieger watch. It was a diver looking one, which I can not remember how it looks like . I remember doing some research, and I think that most if not all of their watches are COSC certified, whether quartz or mechanical. The company is based in Miami Beach, and it was formed by a rich lawyer that wanted a watch that would show the tidal waves. So he designed a mechanism that would do just that, and he approached Swiss manufacturers to make one for him. They wanted a minimum of 1000 orders since some retooling was needed, and the guy started marketing his watch to boating magazines. He got a lot of calls on that watch, so he went ahead and ordered the 1000 pieces. Anyway.... to make a long story short, he ended up with a watch brand, and he started designing other models, both mechanical and quartz, and they are all swiss made. He even has a wrist watch which was designated by COSC to be a Marine Chronometer, and that's not an easy feat to achieve. More info at www.kriegerwatch.com. If you like the style, no news or talk about a small brand is not always a bad thing. People are not very vocal when things work.

I discovered Kreiger when I was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, trolling watch shops. They had some nice pieces and some flat out fugly ones. there's a Kreiger AD here in my city.
From what I've seen, none of their models 'speak' to me and there's nothing remarkable about their lineage, so I've always passed them by.
