You do know that the movement has changed don't you? Same one as in the 14060M. I'm so sick of that Odets article.

Arrrgghh...not that again Well I'll admit Odetts article is old and not at all definitive but it still invites comparisons to other Rolex movements. Is the Explorer I the equal of other Rolex's despite it's lower price? Food for thought.

Isn't the new movement in the Exp I & 14060M the same as the 16610 w/o date complication or SCOC?

It's a 3130,the 16610 is a 3135. Right....but isn't the 3130 the same as 3135 w/o date wheel? Looking at pics, they look awfully similar.

Correct, and COSC certified for the Explorer. Kinda dumb that they don't do that for the 14060M. I've had one Rolex certified watchmaker tell me he thinks the 3130 to be one of the best movements Rolex has made.

Chip, I love both watches you list, but have you tried on the explorer? The size may or may not be a factor when you see it on the wrist. Just some food for thought. Good luck mate.
On a side note, that Odets article is so outdated and overplayed I want to puke. I am in no way a Rolex apoligist, in fact quite the opposite. A big reason why I moved my collection away from that company was based on the stigma that comes with it. A watch like the exp or YM is all I would buy since they don't scream Rolex.
But that article is very outdated and the movement in the current exp is top notch.

If you've wanted the Speedy, go for it, put the savings toward the funding of the Rolex in the future. In the meantime, you will be enjoying the watch you have wanted for some time.
