I have been through a variety of Rolex models, over the last 20 years. I will admit that until recently the GMT was not one that I thought I would ever own. I did try the BLNR for a while, but like the 116610LV, the new ceramic models (while beautiful watches) just seemed a little much for my current tastes. I picked up this all original tritium 16700 X serial from a member on TRF a few weeks ago. The watch had been serviced by RSC 07/13. Here it is on the Oyster the day it arrived. I have since acquired a Jubilee Bracelet and new Coke Bezel from "Springer" on TRF (who now has his own forum I have had the Jubilee on the watch for the last couple of weeks and I will change to the Coke bezel, after I have had time to enjoy the watch with the original faded Pepsi. Over the weekend I did notice that the hour hand appeared to be closer to the dial than it needed to be. I took it into RSC yesterday and they agreed that the hour hand could do with and adjustment and that they could also have replaced the last link clasp pin during the last service. So come mid January the watch and bracelet will be "as good a new". Now with only the Black bezel to acquire, I will have a number change up options for the future. Maybe I can slow up the urge to buy another watch for a while (wishful thinking perhaps ) I was bored at work the other night and tried for a work shot. In my defense, I only had my iPhone to work with. I have to admit that I am enjoying this classic more than I thought I would. I am certain that there are some great GMT's out there - lets see yours

You don't want to see my work shot lol. Helicopter? I love the Pepsi and I think it's the best looking GMT model, and if Rolex ever makes that in SS again I'll be in line to get one. vincent65, king780 and at least a couple of other members have the Pepsi. carbon6 has a beautiful ceramic one and Robb has the BLNR. We are a smaller forum so we won't have the sheer watch volume of TRF, but we hold our own!

Welcome to the forum, Mark! The GMT Master II is probably my favourite Rolex watch of them all. After 4 years (5 this summer) of owning the Explorer II it made me come to love everything about these watches. From the way the additional hand looks, to how much fun it is to set and play around with etc. Can't go wrong with one in your collection! Enjoy in the best of health

Here are a couple of pics I took 8 years ago. I sold my Explorer II a few months ago to help pay for the LVc and I've missed having a four hander in my collection. One day I'd like to add another Rolex GMT but I'm not sure on the model yet. Maybe that can be my 40th birthday present to myself in 2016.

It's no GMT but I'll join in for the time being! Considering they share the exact same bracelet and basically just has a fixed bezel and different dial markings it's a GMT watch in my books nonetheless: Can't wait to see more 16710 pictures posted!

I appreciate the welcome. I could not agree more. I definitely bought this one with the thinking that its versatility will "anchor" my collection and be my daily wearer going forward. This is the 4th Rolex I have had on my wrist this year and I seriously need to to take a breath. They were all trades so it only amounted to cash redistribution (plus a little ) I do like the Explorer II also. I would like to get a an older model that shows a little patina. I have definitely looked at them and had a couple in my sights on a few occasions. Feel free to share a picture of yours. Glad to be here. regards Mark

With the variety this piece provides I'm sure it's a keeper! You can now get the red and black along with the all black bezel inserts. If you're not willing to do the swap yourself you can find a local watchmaker that can do it quickly for you when ever you please. It's like having 3 watches in one!
This is one of many reasons we all love Rolex watches. Not too many other brands you could have done this with and gotten away on top. The desire for them among the watch loving community and the value retention makes them even more appealing. Anyone that has taken a beating the way I did in the past will agree to this, I'm certain.
There are times where I wish my Explorer II just had the rotating bezel and GMT dial to make it official. That being said though I'll likely end up with a 116710 LN at some point in the future to pair with this one. So having a discontinued model that doesn't even have a rotating bezel will give me the best of both worlds. Again, absolutely love having this feature in my collection as it serves well for a daily use watch.

Same here Mark, I got the new 116622 and 116610 LVC mostly though flipping and minimal out of pocket cash. My EXP was a 90s model with tritium dial, all original and like new in shape. I miss it.

How about a tutorial on taking watch pics?? Yep I work EMS out of McKinney. Stop by if you happen to be in the area. This DJ I wore for a close friend for a couple of days. It was her husbands and had been in the safe for 7 years. A couple of shakes and it started right up and kept timed +30 seconds over 72 hours.

You made a wise choice in this instance I believe. As far as I knew, you hardly wore the watch and clearly LOVE this 116610! That being said, it can certainly be hard to let go of any watch, especially a Rolex.

Mark, I'm always in the area when it comes to aircraft. I'm a bit of an airplane/helicopter fanatic. I used to fly with 5 State Helicopters out of Rockwall until my best friend, who was their head mechanic/technician moved to another helicopter job in LA. They fly S56 with twin turbines in place of the round motor. I flew out of McKinney a year ago in a Maule bush plane.

We have a 3rd rider program if you want to come experience a day in the EMS world. Here is a weird picture I captured onto of Baylor in Dallas and another courtesy of First Response Photography landing at the Mckinney Hospital.
