Well, the Hi-Beat it is! I had a wonderful chance to talk to the watchmaker, who I didn't realize they have at Rodeo jewellers. We talked for about half an hour, and he really instilled confidence in me about the Hi-Beat. Apart from that, soon as I saw it again I knew it would be the one. I tried on the Snowflake Spring Drive as well, a gorgeous watch and can understand it's popularity. The prices of the new incoming watches - which they receieved yesterday - went up by just over 25%. Luckily, this one missed the increase. They are trying to make up for the decline in value of our dollar against the USD. For me, it was now or never. All I can say is even if one knows nothing about the movement, it is just an exquisite piece on the wrist, and it feels like a very, very expensive watch, one far exceeding it's actual cost IMO. I have been at Rodeo jewellers so many times, it really has a good feeling to it, and I now know quite a few of the staff. It is fantastic that they have a watchmaker there as well, a service I was not aware of. Anyway, getting very late, so I just post a few pics I took quickly when I got home. More, of course, to follow: Cheers, Carl

Carl, that looks like a different dial to the one you showed me, this one looks like plain black where as the other looked like the dark green version with the lines or is it just the pictures not picking up on that? It's beautiful regardless mind and either are perfect

This one says it all - look at the "kid in the candy store" in the crystal reflection!

Ryan, at Rodeo, was saying that he thinks it's only on this model, as he has not seen such a dial before on any others:
I never thought that the second hand would have such an effect on me. Absolutely mesmerizing to watch it move so smoothly around the dial.

A few more pics taken on this Friday the 13th: Still need more practice at getting this dial just right. By far the most difficult one to photograph of all watches I had. Perfect size for this watch. Not a large watch by today's standards, and possibly wears a bit smaller than the 40mm dial would suggest. But I find the dimensions and proportions excellent. The markers and hand are slightly narrower than on a lot of other models, and it certainly helps to achieve the clean look of the dial.

It's a beautiful watch. Dan sells them as soon as they get in.

Excellent.
So glad there are no funds in the watch account!
