OK, so I was in Boston this past Thursday and Friday shooting video and still images for my endodontist freelance clients. I was bummed that I couldn't arrange any time to take Marc (langnam) on his offer to have lunch, but I did have a very unexpected opportunity to see some watches. We were staying at the Marriot Copley Place and it's one of those areas where a swanky, very high-end, shopping mall is used to connect hotels, office space and such. So after breakfast on Friday morning we had about 20 minutes before we have to catch a cab to the convention center, so we took a quick spin around the mall. After a couple of minutes I spot this.... The guy I hired to work with me is also my best friend (and a better videographer than me) and he knows that I'm a watch nut: but now he really knows. I took off like a shot toward Tourneau. I knew the stores weren't open yet, but at least I could drool on the windows, leaving a little bit of my DNA as it were, in Boston. Here's what I saw.... D'oh!! Every damn window and display case was empty. No DNA was left in Boston. Talk about watchaholicus interruptus. -Ben

Disappointing I know, just too inviting for a "smash and grab". The AD where I assist subscribes to the same philosophy Those are some nice box shots though

It's too bad we didn't get to meet, Ben! The Prudential Tourneau carries the Breguet line, so I did get to see the La Tradition model there. It's really nice, but my main beef with the watch is that it could still have many of its features and, yet, be a bit more traditonal.
Ben, aside from dentists, did you get to have any fun in Beantown?

Ben, aside from dentists, did you get to have any fun in Beantown? Well, other than the amusement of watching a news crew from NY (wearing Giants jerseys) getting evil looks and curses, as they were trying to get people to talk to them Thursday morning on Boylston Street, we really didn't have much free time. But I know that the Patriot's loss in the Superbowl is probably a poor subject in Beantown, so I'll let it go now. They did take us out to Bricco on Thursday evening for dinner. Great Italian food. Even my friend Nando was impressed. Both sides of his family are Italian and some of the absolute best Italian food I've ever had has been from his mother's kitchen. But I suppose the highlight was having two different people ask me about, "the fantastic watch you're wearing." It was my Glashütte Original. They were both wearing "lowly" Rolex Subs. -Ben
