Accuracy, what do you find acceptable for your mechanical watch? (-+ seconds a day) And when do you let your mechanical watch service? if it runs (-+)

Anywhere from dead on to +2 is what I like to see. If it's outside that, I'll regulate it myself unless.... A) it's a Rolex B) it's still under warranty I try and not pay attention so much or it'll bug the hell out of me.

Yeah, ideally I like to be 0 to 2 sec fast. Sometimes that's not always the case. I really dislike it when they run slow.

Some of my beaters that I wear for fishin and stuff it really doesn't matter, the rest should be 0 to +2 and never slow...

0 + 2 is perfect, but perfection is not of this world ;D It doesn't bother me if it runs -1 -2 "-3".. is harder It is the risico about buying a mechanical watch It would really bother me if it would run -4 or +5 for a daily watch, i would let it service.

my Sea-Dweller after a couple months is now running +4, initially +2 still within cosc spec so no reason to crack the case on a new watch! but i get the impression that +2 as it initially was is the standard and it did give me a smile that it was running at that! problem i've got with a SD is to crack the case to regulate, it has to go to rolex as locals don't have the equipment to pressure test the Sea-Dweller, so its not a while-U-wait job ,so it would have to be really off, for me to consider sending away

I honestly never have checked any of my watches to see how accurate they run - I only check a watch against my Junghans when I go to wear it and just reset it if required. I guess I'm just too lazy

I'm not nearly as anal about it as I once was. If the watch is +2 or +4 isn't as important to me as is being consistent. Now having said that I did get a wee bit upset when my brand new GMT II was +15 sec a day! But,after regulation it's now about +1.5.

Ow Mike,.. +15 for a Rolex, it could be a Omega as well.. but it would make you depressed for that price and COSC lucky "there" is guarantee, but you miss your watch for x weeks..

You're exactly right erik. It is irritating to have to sent a new watch back after just getting it to be regulated. I sometimes wonder about the COSC thing since the movements are not tested in the cases they will wind up in. One watch that consistently gets rave reviews is the Submariner. Not the Date/Sub,but the non COSC no date.

I'm extremely anal about accuracy.....anything over +1 sec./day....and I go ballistic! I've made it a rule to "KNOW" my watches and the positions that make them go fast or slow...so that I can manipulate them accordingly!!
