So what's the deal with the "Black Seal"? The PAM183 in particular. Does the designation of Black Seal on the dial actually mean anything? When I bought my first Sea Dweller, the seller had a PAM183 on. Of course, I had to try it on. ;D I was surprised at how well it fit compared to my PAM111. Now this same guy has his PAM183 for sale. No, I'm not buying right now.....the watch fund is already in the red.

No, I'm not buying right now.....the watch fund is already in the red. I'm having trouble remembering but 'black seal' had something to do with the Italian Navy back in WWII, but a quick google got me nothing and I know the most famous group of divers was the Flottilgia Decima MAS. I think the 183 was introduced as the first historic radiomir. Basically it's a 111 in a rad case. They just relaunched the 'Black Seal' as the PAM 292, which has a black case made of ceramic with two divers riding a maile on the dial. Since the 183 has been discontinued... it could be one of those that suddenly sees a big price jump. The rads certainly do fit a little nicer than the lume cases.

I'd agree they do fit nicer, but still not nice enough for me to buy one!
