Okay, so lessons learned from strap number one, so some better hide, a couple other tools and lets have a look, shall we? This one actually fits on the watch so that's a good step forward: Doubled over was kinda thin, so it's a sandwich There's the sewn-in keeper Wrist shot Learned a couple more things from this one to improve #3. Stay tuned and thanks for looking.

Thanks... I still have some work to do on this, like clean the excess wax from the stitches, pop a few more holes in it, finish the sides and shape the end a bit more (files are your friends). As I said, good lessons learned on the first and second should make #3 even more refined. BTW, hand stitching is HARD work. It's also a bit limiting when you can only find 4oz thread and the hide selection is less than ideal. But I am pleased with this one overall. Amanda, I think Micah can sleep at nights for a long while yet.

Wow, J--that's a great looking strap. 2 or 3 more, and you'll have it perfected!

John, Your work is looking strong. How long does it take to make the strap, start to finish?

John, Your work is looking strong. How long does it take to make the strap, start to finish? Thanks Marc. From start to finish (obviously there are waiting times like when the glue dries)... I would say about two hours for me of production time. By far the most time consuming process is the hand stitching and I'm sure as I get better at it, I'll speed up. If I didn't sew-in the keeper, I'd prolly save about 15 minutes but I like the sewn-in as opposed to the floating keeper.

I think you make good straps. Almost look profesional.
