Vostok Amphibia
Sporting this very affordable diver today so I figured to post more pics of this timepiece. Vostok is a pretty popular brand for those seeking a budget-friendly watch for everyday wear or as a beater. I've had this watch for about 3 years now and it has held up well and for the little money spent, I've found a decent value with this timepiece. This is another one of my Vostok Amphibia that I've modded by simply replacing the bezel and strap. A super easy amateur level DIY project that didn't cost much. A versatile timepiece...
Natural rubber strap
Nato
Leather
Original supple silicon rubber strap With a 200M WR and a screw-down crown, it's more than plenty for my creek adventures...
Not too shabby looking for everyday wear as well IMHO.This one gets it done so it's all good! Folks, every Friday please feel free to add a frugal piece or 2 of yours with pics. Definitely gotta have pics We can then talk about it or not. ~v~

That is a good looking watch and it has held up well. I can see why it's popular. Was there a ss bezel on that originally? btw, I do see there is a Vostok Europe manufactured in Lithuania. They have English on the dials and use some Seiko mechanical movements. The Russian Vostoks such as yours are made in Christopol, Tatarstan. Well east of Moscow. I guess they have mostly in-house movements. I've also seen some other Russian brands now using Seagull movements in some models. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I like to know what the movement is in a watch.

I got it through Meranom and it's the model 120512.
I simply replaced the bezel and swapped various straps that I thought would match it. It works for me. Here it is on a tropic style strap...
Amphibias are just fun affordable watches to mess around. I got a few more I'll feature next week. Guys, please feel free to feature your frugal watch here. Post lots of pics, please. ~v~

That new bezel gives it a whole new cool look. Is that a Vostok bezel? Surfing the web I see Man Sets Diving Record with this watch. Amazing. Vostok Amphibia KGB. And really frugal.

That new bezel gives it a whole new cool look. Is that a Vostok bezel? Yeah, I agree. The bezel is from AM-Diver and they make bezels designed for Vostok watches.

My oldest piece. Private label, Huske Matic Kapitan, from the late 50s. Driven by 25 jewel PUW cal. 570, first automatic family from PUW. So as a donor movement this 25 jewel cal. 570 just arrived from Ebay, in case it's ever called upon. Gruen (stamped on rotor) used this movement in some of their models. The gp Kapitan is on a period 50s strap.

~ Bernhardt Officer ~ 2nd owner. Full set. Nice inner wood box. Caseback stamped "Limited Edition 140/300". 43mm, nicely sized and signed crown. Polished bezel, between lugs and chamfers on lugs. Brushed case side and top of lugs. Flat sapphire, my favorite sapphire form. I added a wine strap and larger brushed buckle from Etsy. Unitas 6497 motor. My favorite watch to wind. Clicks are substantial and satisfying. I like the black hands. If they were blued it would have been too much with the red subdial seconds hand. All in all, a well thought frugal piece assembled in North Carolina ca. 2008.
