I was at the mall today and decided, randomly, to drop in at my favorite AD to see what they are offering. Well, to my surprise, there were almost no professional or “sport” models, save for a couple of blingly Daytona’s and a YG blue Submariner. The rep told me there has been very high demand lately, leading to a huge backlog of professional models. Presently, they don’t even have a waiting list for any of them and can’t place special orders. It fits with what I have been reading about lately. But, she was quite considerate and let me escape with a couple of nice Rolex books to peruse. Not too shocking as news goes, but I wanted to share. It’s been a while, and I miss you guys. Not enough time for anything these days, it seems...

Yup... they are all empty. I lot has changed in the last year or so, Jamie Now all the SS pieces are on allocation, and dealers can’t even order them anymore. It’s all at the mercy of Rolex, who decides how many each dealer gets per year. After speaking with several, both here and in Europe, it seems that the number is low, to ridiculously low. Daytona I was told is 2 a year or so, unless Rolex feels like throwing you a bone. The blue sky dweller is the only one that doesn’t even have allocation. I was told dealers were promised 12, back in 2017 when it came out, and so far everyone I’ve talked to said they had 2-3 come in. It’s ridiculous.

It's too bad, really, I will always be a fan of the SS models. Always have been. I just don't go for the bling. Give me a 5513 with a domed crystal, a GMT, or a SD any day!

Hi Jamie,
Good to see you again. Yes, it’s a sad state of affairs with ADs across the globe. On a recent trip to AL, MS, LA, VA, DC and DE I stopped in quite a few ADs too. The only SS sports I saw was a SD43 and it had a mark on the bracelet and no stickers but the AD claimed it was new. Wouldn’t even ship it back to CO without tax.

Hi mate, great to see you pop in.👍 Gone are the days when you could window shopping SS Rolex models. A real shame.
