Day 2 "Watchmakers Workshop". With parts, tools, accessories, groups of watches, and in need of repair. Here's one that needs it.
Lot 591 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control
ref. 140.8.89, no. 1264, circular silvered dial with Arabic quarter numerals, baton markers, dauphine hands, centre seconds and date aperture, 37mm (this watch is sold as not working, in need of professional repair, one screw missing to the case back, one screw not original). There is some discolouration to the centre of the dial, showing as red/brown tint in the image. We are unable to confirm the issue(s) with the movement. There does not appear to be any water damage and the balance and rotor appear to turn. Please note one screw missing to the case back and one screw not original.
Estimate £900 - £1200
Hammer £1300

Some very neat pieces there, priamo . As beaten up as the Sea-Dweller is, it would be neat to own because of the history. The one watch that I would consider as a 5-digit reference piece. Another brand won the outer space supply contract, but there's no doubt Rolex won Comex over for dive watches back in the day. Thanks for sharing this auction content, I really enjoy these threads.

Rolex could overhaul that Sea Dweller and install a new "pearl" in that bezel. Good to go.

priamo - Agreed. As much as I'm all for keeping things original, I can't bring myself to wear watches that are too faded or damaged. I'm not sure how easy it would be to source the period correct insert through private sellers these days, but I would likely go that route so I've got the replacement and could have an independent watchmaker swap them for me vs. Rolex keeping (or discarding) the original.
