Fratellow Watches shared an interesting article today regarding Rolex market availability potentially taking sales away from Breitling, IWC, Grand Seiko, Tudor and more. If true it's great that Rolex will start to address the obvious issue. With such high demand though I'm not sure how much it'll change and the prices are still sky high in my books. Either way, the article was interesting to glance at, so I wanted to share it here. www.fratellowatches.com/rolex-market-availability-will-hurt-other-brands/#gref

I do think other brand sales will decline when Rolex becomes readily available again, but I have no idea when that will happen. I thought I had read the new facilities were supposed to come online this fall but I haven’t seen any news lately. A google search tells me it still a year or more out. robbreport.com/style/watch-collector/rolex-new-temporary-factories-1234817627/

That's a great point, I wonder how the completion of that facility will impact global availability. It'll likely happen gradually as they're stating 2025 for watches to get produced.
I'm happy about this because the other brands will likely have to resort discounting among other tactics to try compete.
To me I see this as a win regardless for the WIS community. Oh how nice it will be to actually visit an AD and see some watches!

Both good points but as I see it, for a while there will be more new Rolex out there but prices will not go down but up. As with any increase in production there will be some difficulties and even the almighty Rolex will suffer with some issues for a while. As prices increase more will seek out the other brands as alternatives and start to discover that you don't need a great name to have a great watch. Even while owning a draw full of now super expensive pieces, I still don't understand people willing to spend 2 months worth of salary for one.

That's so true, and I'm so glad I came to my senses. The prices from 2007-2010 were my limit. Seeing what others are willing to pay for some of the pieces is beyond me.
After coming to my senses I've had more fun and enjoyment than ever before with a multitude of other brands in my collection.

Welcome to the forum. Are Rolex watches available for sale in stores where you live?
