Weirdly, it was a no watch day for me. Slept in, worked on unpacking/winterizing the RV, went to Apple Store to find out my 2 year old MacBook Pro is dead (got wet a few mouths ago in the RV by accident and corrosion set in), and has a quite dinner at home.

Dang that sucks about the MBP. Can it be fixed or are you looking at a replacement?

Sorry to hear this, Roger. Sometimes independent repair shops like the one Louis Rossmann owns can get these repaired for a lot less than what Apple quotes. However, at 3-years old and even if it were just a few hundred at an independent, it's unfortunate but probably best you just got the new one, sadly.
At least this one will serve you well for a long time to come and I hope it encounters no issues.

Yeah, I thought about taking it elsewhere to have ti repaired, but the storage case it was in when the gallons water jug fell over in the RV was totally soaked and I was surprised it fired up back then. I dried it out, not in rice, and dried out the case for several days and it worked again to our surprise and continued to work for about 3 more months. The Apple tech said there was corrosion on the bother board and at the battery connection.. I think I will open up the case myself and see how bad it looks before I recycle it. Maybe it’s worth being repaired and becoming the RV computer in case there is another accident. That said, this time I bought a case made out of water resistant material and we’ve also agreed to find a different place in the RV for it to be stored while we are driving.

Baco Noir This sounds like a good plan. I'm sure it can work again, some 99% rubbing alcohol might help. Worst case scenario it may need a bit more work but is possible. Definitely look into other options before recycling this device. If all else fails at least you tried and have taken steps to prevent this from happening again.

I just got back from a local Mac repair place and the guy found several burnt connectors and a little bit of corrosion on the motherboard, so he’s going to send it off to his motherboard repair guy and thought it would cost somewhere around $400 for the motherboard work plus his time. Hopefully, it doesn’t go much over $600 and it’ll be our travel computer.

Amazing! Hoping for the best possible result but have heard this play out so many times I'm not surprised at the independent quite being so much lower than Apple. I'm sure it'll work well after the repair. I remember a phase where I used to watch YouTube videos on board repairs and saw some pretty extreme cases be turned around.
