I had a TAG for six years and while it never let me down, I'd be hard pressed to buy another. They do make nice looking watches, but the value drops faster than Vanilla Ice did in the 80s. I'd be more inclined to pick up an Omega Schumacher Speedy, or perhaps an Oris Williams F1 before going with TAG. Or, if I really wanted a TAG, I would consider a Carrera re-issue. But that's me and this is why this hobby is so much fun. There's something for everyone. If it smiles at you... Merry Christmas! BTW, I was in Portugal a few years ago and saw a beautiful box set of three McLaren TAG chronos, one with Coulthard on the dial, an other with Hakkinen and the last had a McLaren logo. I think they wanted around US$8K but I may be wrong in the FX conversion, the price was in Escudos.

Inded it looks very nice Adam atomic : if you leave out the big brands, i think all other watches loose their value in time. By the way i have bought my tag f1 exactly 1 year ago (i guess every christmas i get Tagmania ) and still today its almost the same price. I think its a very nice watch and i might go for it. I understand everyone has his own opionon and i respect yours. Id love to get a McLaren Tag but those are rare and expensive. same with Carrera

Hi, well your F1 may retail for the same, but after a year I'm pretty certain the resale value is substantially less than retail. My assistant recently said she wanted to get her boyfriend a TAG F1 as an engagement present. I told her since they were quartz, for the money you could get an automatic watch of either the same brand or a different one, and he'd have a keepsake. And sorry, I don't see quartz watches as keepsakes unless they're an Oysterquartz or are 18K gold. She ended up getting him a Tudor Prince Chrono and he's over the moon! I'm not down on TAG watches because I had one and I know they're good. I just think that for the same money, you can get more watch. For example the Chopard Mille Miglia is a great watch, running a valjoux movement, likely the same as the Indy TAG (assuming it's automatic), and likely costs less (guessing). But hey, this is why, like I said above, this hobby is cool cuz there's something for everyone.

Tag makes the most accrate quartz movement I've ever owned and they have autos too.

If you like it...buy it. That's what matters. I'm not a big fan of Tags. Their designs are usually too "out there" for my taste. There are a few in the Carerra line that I would consider, but there are a lot of watches higher up my list.
