You can also read a "review" on the Daytona in the current issue on InSync magazine... Here is a excerpt from it: "After carefully studying this time piece, it appears to me made out of stainless steel. Also, based on my previous experience with time pieces I can state that it is a self winding movement. The dial is white, and it has 12 markers on it. I am confident when I state that the markers are there to help you tell what time it is." ETC

Great article. I read it when it was first posted IMHO, quite possibly the best automatic watch movement ever made Bob I think the 4130 is their best in the present line up. The first movement Rolex patented in 50 years. For those who don't know that is the present Daytona movement. =) maverick

And I hope we will see some of the 4130 goodies carry over into future iterations of Rolex's other perpetual movements. Regarding the article on the 3135, the two red gears in the winding system are not PTFE coated as the author states. They are hard anodized aluminum, which is where the red color comes from. The hard anodizing allows the use of light weight aluminum gears, which increases the efficiency of the winding mechanism since not as much of the energy from the rotor is lost in turning heavey gears.

Andrew Babanin emailed me he might be doing a 4130 soon. He said he has not had one to work on yet. Sounds like a good endorsement. I also agree with GMF that I hope those improvements work into the 3135 and other movements. ;-) maverick
