Everytime I get one of these Alphas, I'm again amazed at the quality for the money. This blue dial Explorer arrived yesterday. The dial is flawless and pictures don't do it justice. It's ice blue, not the typical blue seen on Rolex watches--and certainly not seen on a real Explorer I since that only comes in black. Twenty-one jewel, 21,600 bph auto that hacks and handwinds, solid link bracelet with screws not pins, screw-down crown, half-way decent lume, and superb fit and finish. Not bad for less than fifty bucks, all in.

Thats really nice, I have decided I am going to get a few alphas So how do they perform in the long run?? My two teenage nephews (13 and 15) have been wearing the ones I gave them for over a year and they are still going. These boys are not easy on watches either, especially the fifteen-year-old.

I've never submerged any of my Alphas, but I have routinely given them a "bath" in the sink with a toothbrush under running water (just like I do with my Rolexes) and they have never leaked. Click on the following link to read a review of two Alphas where a watchmaker did a pressure test and full disassembly/inspection. The pressure tests failed just bellow the rated 30m. What this tells me is that these watches are probably fine for getting wet and possibly the casual swim, but anything deeper and they are going to leak. members.shaw.ca/hclitheroe/Alpha/
