Hey Guys, The job has finally been done. For those not in the loop I ordered a domed AR sapphire crystal and a MOD dial and hand set from Bill Yao. My watchmaker fitted the parts and I must say that we were both impressed with the parts. The before and after, Before, note the scratches and marks on a 2 month old watch.(Harlex crystal) After, very hard to photograph due to the domed crystal but wow. Aaron

Nice Aaron... btw, how is the Yao lume compared to the OEM Seiko lume? The lume on my BM is better than any watch I've seen and it is one feature of the OEM dial I wouldn't want to lose. BTW, I like that you chose a dial that covers the day function. I don't understand why Seiko would give a day/date function and yet not have a manual wind function?

Hey Guys, Thanks for your kind comments and I would recommend doing this to a watch one day as it makes it unique. Sam, Your right about looking forward to not scartching the crystal. That is what started the whole process. The dial and hands were an after thought as they were very reasonable and I thought why not. ;D John, The dial has a Tritrium symbol on it but they use Super Luminova so the glow is good.Probably not as good as the monster but pretty good.

Was the original crystal prone to scratching?

Aaron,
Nice job! I used to have one almost exactly like yours, except I had the MOD Day Date dial and aluminum chapter ring.
Enjoy, and glad to see the job was well done!!

Hey Mailman,
With my watches I wear them and the Hardlex crystal chipped and scratched real easy.
I actually used to wear my rolex for beater duties which sounds brash but it sure handled the knocks well and a quick clean she was like new.
Aaron.
Brian I looked at the aluminium chapter ring but decided not to spend too much on this watch as I was really after the crystal but you know how things get out of hand. ;D
